TRANSPORTATION IN THE BERGEN AREA:

RENTAL CARS
While it is possible to get by using public transportation you may find renting a car worthwhile, especially if you plan to stay for a few days before or after the wedding. Weekly rentals start at $300 for compact cars. Smaller cars are recommended as Norwegian roads are often small, especially in the areas outside of Bergen. Norwegians drive on the right side of the road. Traffic regulations are vigorously enforced so take your time.

The following companies rent cars at Bergen Flesland Airport:

Europcar
Budget
National
Avis
Hertz

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Flybussen takes passengers from the airport to downtown, and runs every 15 minutes. The bus stops in front of some popular hotels along the way.The cost is $10 one-way.

Flybussen til Os is a special airport bus that takes passengers directly to the ferry dock at Halhjem. Ferries for Tysnes leave from there. The bus only runs a few times a day (10 AM, 5 PM, and 7 PM currently), but would be a good option if you plan to arrive on Thursday or Friday and go directly to the Tysnes Sjø og Fritid apartments. The cost of the bus is $15.

HSD ferries run from Halhjem to Våge/Tysnes.The ferry runs approximately every hour until 10 PM. Tickets are $6/person. Bringing a car costs $20.
NOTE: Be sure you get on the right ferry at Halhjem, as some go to other destinations. You want the ferry to Våge.

GAIA Busses
run all over Bergen.
