To create a client-side image map you will need:

An Image Processing Program: You can use anything from the most basic paint program to a professional package like Photoshop. The only requirements are that it can save image files in either JPEG (.jpg) or GIF (.gif) format, and that it can display image coordinates.

An HTML editor: Whatever you currently use to edit your HTML pages will do.

Client-side image map compatible web-browser: Any of the current browsers should do, I recommend Firefox, click below to download Firefox:
